Os Centros de Coordenação de Busca e Salvamento Marítimo de Lisboa (MRCC Lisboa), de Ponta Delgada (MRCC Delgada) e o Subcentro do Funchal (MRSC Funchal), da Marinha Portuguesa, durante o ano de 2023 procederam ao salvamento de 401 pessoas, em 419 ações de busca e salvamento marítimo.
Com uma taxa de eficácia do serviço de 96,9% no ano 2023, os Centros de Coordenação de Busca e Salvamento Marítimo do nosso país foram já reconhecidos nacional e internacionalmente com diversos prémios.
No Centro de Coordenação de Busca e Salvamento Marítimo (MRCC) de Lisboa, foram registados 246 incidentes em que foram salvas 306 pessoas. Na área relativa ao MRCC Delgada ocorreram 148 casos que se traduziram em 71 salvamentos. Na zona de ação do MRSC Funchal houve um total de 25 ações de busca e salvamento, tendo sido resgatadas 24 pessoas.
O sucesso do sistema de busca e salvamento conta com o contributo de contribuem diferentes organizações e o empenhamento de meios de diversas entidades nomeadamente da Marinha Portuguesa, da Autoridade Marítima Nacional, da Força Aérea Portuguesa (FAP) e outras entidades pertencentes à Estrutura Auxiliar do Sistema Nacional de Busca e Salvamento, em especial o Instituto Nacional de Emergência Médica – Centro de Orientação de Doente Urgentes no mar (INEM CODU-MAR), os Serviços Nacionais e Regionais de Proteção Civil e Bombeiros, as Administrações Marítimas e Portuárias, entre outros organismos.
Realça-se ainda o apoio prestado pelos navios mercantes e embarcações de pesca nas ações de busca e salvamento, que se desviam das suas rotas comerciais para prestarem o auxílio necessário, sempre coordenados pelos Centros Nacionais – MRCC Lisboa e MRCC Delgada.
